GOD the fact Shall refuses Anne’s help to save him because he’s never been saved/helped before, isn’t used to the idea, and refuses to have Anne waste her time/energy on him when she could be out there building her career and fulfilling her dreams, and only relents when she says it’s also for her pride as a silver sugar master.
He refuses Anne’s efforts for him, will only accept Anne’s efforts for her.
The tension in this scene was so great! From Shall’s almost… anger? at seeing Anne putting her career at risk again (for him) to him trying to find arguments to send her away to finally gving in to her (and to his own pent up feelings)!
